The Buffehr Creek Trail is 3.5 miles long. It begins and/or ends at Forest Road 734 and Buffeher Creek Road. For hiking, this trail starts in the town of Vail and joins the North Vail Trail #1896. It can be hiked east or west, but a popular section is to the east to the Beaver Ponds for an easy hike. For biking, this trail is generally started off of the Red and White Mountain Road #734 and is a somewhat technical ride back down to Vail.This trail is closed seasonally from April 15 through June 20 for elk calving.

How to Get There

Travel west on I-70 to Exit 173 for West Vail. Turn right and proceed east on the North Frontage Road for 0.5 miles to Buffehr Creek Road. Turn left and continue to the bridge. There is limited parking at 2 pull-offs just beyond the bridge.
