A secluded gem, the Broad Canyon Wilderness shelters hidden water pools, flat-topped mountains and ancient cultural sites. Ancient lava flows carved by through the erosion of water form several small canyons whose sides are colored by lichens on the rock. The quiet in this area is only broken by the flush of quail as you explore the landscape dominated by Chihuahuan Desert scrub.

How to Get There

From Interstate 25 at Las Cruces, drive for approximately 29 miles and take the exit for NM-185 N/N Valley Dr. towards County Road EO-06. At the NM-185 and County Road EO-06 junction turn left towards County Road EO-06. Drive for approximately 9 miles to the Wilderness Area boundary.
