About Warm Springs National Fish Hatchery (Oregon)

Warm Springs National Fish Hatchery is located on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. Established in 1966, it began operation in 1978 to stock Reservation waters with salmon and trout. The hatchery annually rears and releases up to 750,000 spring Chinook salmon. The hatchery is on the Warm Springs River, a tributary of the Deschutes River, that flows into the Columbia.

How to Get There

The hatchery is 5 miles northwest of Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort, 28 miles from Madras, and about 100 miles from Portland From Portland: Take highway 26 east from Portland. Turn left on Simnnasho Road (Highway 9), follow signs to Kah-Nee-Ta Resort. After Passing through Simnasho, trrn right on Simnasho-Hot Springs Road (Highway 3). Drive 10 miles, turn right at fish hatchery sign. From Warm Springs: Take Agency Hot Springs Road (Highway 3) north from Warm Springs. Three miles north of the Warm Springs River take a left at fish hatchery sign.
