Overview The Horsfall Sand Camping Area is an outstanding destination for off-road vehicle enthusiasts. Sites are located directly on the sand at the southern end of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. From here, adventure seekers can experience the thrill of riding through vast open dunes or meandering through designated sand routes surrounded by coastal forest. The tops of the dunes provide prime views of the Pacific Coast to the west and the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range to the east.These sites are only accessible to 4X4 vehicles on soft sand. Please plan accordingly.Recreation Horsfall is an outstanding destination for off-road vehicle enthusiasts. Thrillseekers have a choice of riding on designated routes like the Bark Sand Route and the Bull Run Sand Route, or cruising through the open riding zones. Anglers can fish in Jordan Cove, which is the portion of Coos Bay that is nearest to the campsites. Hikers can access the nearby Bluebill Trail for a 1.2-mile journey around Bluebill Lake. And last but not least, the beach along the Pacific Ocean is only 2 miles from the Horsfall off-road vehicle staging area. Facilities Sand campsites can only be accessed by 4X4 vehicles on soft sand routes. No water is available so campers should bring an ample amount. Campsites are primitive and all campers must bring portable toilets and fire pans. Standard sites fit 5 vehicles and up to 20 people. The group campsites fit 10 vehicles and 40 people. Campsites are available year-round (by reservation only) and reservations may fill up quickly in peak summer season. Within each campsite, all vehicles and tents must be positioned within 150 feet of the campsite marker post. Natural Features Campsites are located on the sand at the southern edge of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (ODNRA). How to Get There

From North Bend, Oregon, follow Highway 101 north for about 2 miles to the Horsfall Dunes and Beach road sign. Turn left onto Trans Pacific Lane and proceed for 1.1 miles to the intersection with Horsfall Beach Road. Turn right onto Horsfall Beach Road and proceed for 0.5 miles. After 0.5 miles, turn right at the entrance to the Horsfall Campground and Day Use Area. Follow the access road straight ahead into the Day Use Area; a sand access point is situated within the Day Use Area. Horsfall sand campsites are also accessible from the Old Bark Staging Area and the Bull Run Staging Area. Please refer to a map of the camping area to locate the best access point for your campsite. Old Bark and Bull Run are both along Horsfall Beach Road: Old Bark is 0.75 miles from the intersection with Trans Pacific Lane, and Bull Run is 2 miles from the intersection.
