About Rocky Peak Campground

Overview The Rocky Peak Campground is located within Three Peaks Recreation Area, which is one of the largest designated recreation areas in Cedar City, UT. In 2006, Three Peaks was designated as a Special Recreation Management Area. What previously existed as a local open space playground has since been developed into a recreation area to meet the needs of almost any outdoor enthusiast. The site is located 10 miles outside of town at 5,938 feet elevation and sees weather similar to that in Cedar City. Visitors can expect cool temperatures in Spring and Fall with low's during these times approaching or below freezing. Summer temperatures can often bring the high's into the range of 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit. Rocky Peak Campground and Three Peaks Recreation Area provides opportunities for hikers, bikers, equestrian, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) users, Remote Control (RC) car drivers, and many more. The campground is located within a small Pinyon -Juniper forest, and many of the campsites will provide shade. Recreation Mountain bike and hiking trails can be accessed from the campground. Three Peaks Recreation Area contains a hiking and mountain biking trailhead, an equestrian trailhead, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) trailhead, a paintball complex, shooting range, a remote controlled (RC) car track, two disc golf courses, and a model airplane runway. Facilities Each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring with grill grate, and is in close proximity to a vault toilet. There is no drinking water or electricity hookups in the campground, but drinking water can be found at the nearby trailheads. Group campsites have three picnic tables, an oversized fire ring, charcoal grills, and a pavilion. From Cedar City, take Main Street (UT-130) north and take the third exit in the roundabout onto Midvalley Road. After 6 miles on Midvalley Road, continue straight and follow the road through Three Peaks Recreation Area. The campground is on the left shortly after the road transitions from pavement to dirt.
