About Sand Mountain Open Off-Highway Vehicle Area

Sand Mountain was designated as an Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Open Area in the 1999 St. George Field Office Resource Management Plan (RMP). Adjacent to Sand Hollow State Park, the OHV Area hosts miles of technical trails and open riding opportunities suitable to a spectrum of OHVs. Sand Mountain provides a 360-degree panorama of the region that includes downtown St. George, the Hurricane Cliffs, the Arizona Strip, the Pine Valley Mountains, and the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area. The maximum elevation of Sand Mountain is approximately 4,000 feet.
