About Bridger Jack Mesa WSA

The Wilderness Study Area (WSA) is an elongated unit about 10 miles long from north to south, and a little more than 2 miles from east to west at the widest point. Located in the Canyonlands section of the Colorado Plateau Physiographic Province, Bridger Jack Mesa is bounded by spectacular orange-red cliffs. The WSA is in a natural state and has outstanding opportunities for solitude and primitive recreation.

How to Get There

Located in north-central San Juan County, about 18 miles northwest of Monticello, UT. From Monticello, drive north on Highway 191 for 14.4 miles. Turn left (west) onto UT-211 and travel 20.2 miles. At the Cottonwood Creek Recreation site, turn left (south) onto Beef Basin Road (B107). Bridger Jack WSA is located on the mesa top above Beef Basin Road.
