About Pine Flats Group Campground
Overview Pine Flats group site is located next to the Mad River within the Pine Flats Campground, in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, on the Entiat Ranger District. Visitors have easy access to the Mad River trailhead which connects to several multiple-use trails. The campground contains two vault toilets, garbage service, and a hand pump for potable water.Recreation The campground offers great access to trail opportunities for hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers and motorcyclists. The Lower Mad River Trailhead is located within the campground. The Mad River trail is 14-miles long and leads to the upper Mad River meadows area. Spring time wildflower viewing is a popular activity while hiking up the trail.Facilities The campground offers one group site, that is reservation only, and six first-come, first-served single sites. Each site contains a picnic table and campfire ring. Two vault toilets, garbage service, and a hand pump with potable water are provided during the main summer season. If the trash cans are full, please pack out any extra trash produced greater than what the cans can accommodate.Natural Features The campground is situated on the banks of the Mad River, at an elevation of 1,621 feet. Ponderosa pines tower over the area, which also contains several open meadows that are great for wildflower viewing during the spring bloom season. The surrounding forest provides excellent habitat for a wide range of wildlife. Visitors may catch glimpses of mule deer, bald eagles, and a variety of woodpeckers and owls. Nearby Attractions The Mad River Trail provides 14 miles of hiking, biking, horseback, and motorcycle riding access to some of the most beautiful alpine settings the area has to offer. The campground sits close to hundreds of miles of multiple use trails that are easily accessible from nearby trailheads. From Wenatchee, travel north on US-97A (west side of Columbia River) for 14.4 miles to Entiat. Just after the bridge turn left onto Entiat River Road (County Road #19) and travel north 9.5 miles to the community of Ardenvoir. Go beyond the general store and turn left on Mad River Road / Forest Road 5700 and travel 4 miles to Pine Flats Campground.
